This Privacy Policy explains how Mise en Davis (“we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses and shares personal information through miseendavis.com, its member accounts and related club services. Mise en Davis is a student food community in Davis, California.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. Our authentication provider, Clerk, manages your sign-in details, verification and sessions. We receive your account identifier, name and verified email address. When you use Google sign-in, Google provides Clerk with your Google account identifier, name, profile picture and email address. We do not receive your Google password or request access to your Gmail, Google Drive or Google Calendar.
  • Membership information. We collect your name, membership level and email preferences. You may also provide your student status, school, year of study, interests and how you heard about Mise. These additional profile fields are optional.
  • Participation and content. We collect attendance requests and confirmations, submissions and their review status, guestbook entries and attribution, saved dinners and recipes, and postcard designs you choose to save to your shelf. Club content may include event photographs, videos and contributor credits.
  • Communications. We receive information you include when you contact us or submit a club application.
  • Technical and usage information. Our service providers process connection and device information needed to operate and secure the website, such as IP addresses, browser information and request logs. We record account-linked postcard downloads and music selections, including their dates and resource identifiers, to apply guest allowances.

2. How we use information

We use this information to create and manage accounts, maintain membership records, confirm event attendance, provide member benefits, save your selected content, review submissions, respond to inquiries and protect the website from misuse. Optional membership answers help the board understand members’ interests and how people discover the club.

Email updates are optional and separate from account verification and service messages. You can change your preference in My Mise. At the date of this policy, the website saves that preference but newsletter delivery is not connected.

Google account information is used to authenticate you and connect your identity to these club services. We do not sell personal information or use Google account information for advertising or training AI models.

3. When information is shared or visible

  • Club administration. Authorised board administrators can access membership records, attendance information and submissions needed to administer the club. Membership answers are not published in a member directory.
  • Content you share. Kitchen notes and event media may be public when published. Dinner guestbook entries require your explicit sharing consent and board approval, and are shown with your chosen attribution to confirmed attendees and authorised administrators. Access to restricted photographs and dinner collections depends on membership and confirmed attendance.
  • Saved content. Your shelf is not visible to other members. Postcard notes remain in your browser unless you explicitly choose to save the design to your shelf.
  • Service providers. Cloudflare provides hosting, database and media storage. Clerk provides authentication, account storage and verification messages. Google processes Google sign-in. They process information needed to provide and secure those services.

We may also disclose information when required by applicable law.

4. Cookies and browser storage

The website and its sign-in service use cookies and browser storage to maintain sessions, remember display and movement preferences, and preserve temporary form or postcard state. You can clear or restrict this storage through your browser settings. Doing so may sign you out, reset preferences or remove unsaved drafts.

5. Data retention and deletion

Account and club records are maintained to support your account, membership and participation history. Membership, attendance and guest-allowance records currently have no automatic expiry. Saved shelf items remain until you remove them or request deletion; published club content remains until it is removed.

You can delete your own shelf items and dinner guestbook entries through the website. For account closure or deletion of other personal information, contact us using the address below. A request to close your account covers both your sign-in account and associated club records, subject to any information we are required to retain. Disconnecting Google sign-in alone does not close your Mise account. Deletion from the website does not remove copies already downloaded by you or others.

6. Security

We use encrypted connections and access controls to protect personal information and restrict access to private content. No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure.

7. Your choices and requests

You can review and update your membership details and email preference in My Mise, manage saved items in My shelf, and change display preferences in Settings. You may leave optional profile fields blank.

To request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, or to raise a concern about an event photograph or credit, email miseendavis@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Any rights available under applicable privacy law remain unaffected by this policy.

8. Third-party services

External application forms, Instagram, Discord and other linked services have their own privacy practices. Information you submit through a club application form is also available to the club administrators reviewing that application. Please review the relevant service’s policy before providing information.

Our providers describe their own processing practices in the Clerk Privacy Policy, Cloudflare Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to this policy

We will publish revisions on this page and update the date above. If we materially change how we use personal information, we will provide an additional notice through the website or another appropriate channel.
